Welcome to St Monica’s new school website!
St Monica’s is first and foremost a Catholic school where children are happy, confident and enthusiastic learners. This year we have been celebrating our 60th anniversary and remember the tireless work of the parishioners of St Monica’s Church who worked so hard to get the school built back in 1954. We work in partnership with St Monica’s Parish to instil Gospel values and develop the faith of children, families and staff. We also teach other faiths such as Islam, Judaism, Sikhism and Hinduism so that the children can learn about others’ faith traditions and practices and be respectful and tolerant of them.
There are two classes for each year group with a total of 420 pupils from Reception to Year 6. We have a fantastic outside area for all year groups to make use of and we encourage children to be active as much as possible. Attainment at St Monica’s has been consistently ‘outstanding’ at Key Stage 2 for the last five years. But academic achievement is not our only concern. Whilst we aim to ensure every child reaches their full potential academically, they are also taught that they can be successful in many different ways. This could be anything from being a good friend to being a fantastic musician, sports person or artist, the list is endless! The children are also taught that it is good to make mistakes because that is how you learn and persistence is key! “Strive to succeed in the presence of God!” is our motto and one that fits well with our ethos. The parents of our children are very supportive of the school and this is valued as an essential ingredient for making our school as successful as it is.
Should you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact us via the school office. We are oversubscribed for places every year and have waiting lists for each year group, but visit our “Admissions” page if you want more information about how to apply for a place here.
