Welcome to St Monica’s School Website

Please note that Cannon Road is a “School Street”.  Vehicles are prohibited from entering or exiting Cannon Road between 8.15am-9.15am and 2.45pm-4pm during term time (some exclusions apply so be mindful that some cars will still drive on Cannon Road). Parking is available in neighbouring streets. It is essential however that you DO NOT park in a way that will obstruct the driveways of any local resident. It is important that we are responsible in maintaining good relationships with our neighbours.

St Monica’s is a two-form entry Catholic school based near Southgate. However, our distance criteria for admissions is set from the Parish of St Monica in Palmers Green – see “Admissions” page. Attendance is good with children running happily through the gate each morning! They are confident and enthusiastic learners with high standards of social behaviour and behaviour for learning. Whilst great importance is placed on academic standards, we place equal value on the development of the whole child; emotionally, socially, creatively and spiritually.

There are two classes for each year group with a total of 420 pupils from Reception to Year 6 (we sadly do not have a nursery). We have a rich and varied curriculum and are fortunate to have fabulous grounds including our very own forest with four level 3 Forest School teachers. Whilst we aim to ensure every child reaches their full potential academically, they are also taught that they can be successful in many different ways and places. Music, PE, Science, History & Geography are particular strengths. The children discover that being successful can mean anything from being a good friend to being a fantastic musician, sports person or artist, the list is endless! The children are also taught that it is good to make mistakes because that is how you learn and persistence is key! “Strive to succeed in the presence of God!” is our motto and one that fits well with our ethos. The parents of our children are very supportive of the school and this is valued as an essential ingredient for making our school as successful as it is.

We work in partnership with St Monica’s Parish to instil Gospel values and develop the faith of children, families and staff. We also teach other faiths such as Islam, Judaism, Sikhism and Hinduism so that the children can learn about others’ faith traditions and practices and be respectful and tolerant of them.
