Welcome to St Monica’s School Website
Please note that Cannon Road is now a “School Street”. Be aware that timed traffic restriction will be enforceable along Cannon Road. All vehicles apart from those being driven by residents, blue badge holders, parents/carers of pupils with specific medical requirements and registered staff members will be prohibited from entering or exiting Cannon Road between 8.15am-9.15am and 2.45pm-4pm. Parking is available in neighbouring streets. It is essential however that you DO NOT park in a way that will obstruct the driveways of any local resident. It is important that we are responsible in maintaining good relationships with our neighbours.
St Monica’s is first and foremost a Catholic school where children are happy, confident and enthusiastic learners. We have high standards of behaviour and application to learning. Academic standards are excellent but we place equal value on the development of the whole child; emotionally, socially, creatively and spiritually.
We work in partnership with St Monica’s Parish to instil Gospel values and develop the faith of children, families and staff. We also teach other faiths such as Islam, Judaism, Sikhism and Hinduism so that the children can learn about others’ faith traditions and practices and be respectful and tolerant of them.
There are two classes for each year group with a total of 420 pupils from Reception to Year 6. Outcomes for children are ‘outstanding’ due to our rich and varied curriculum. We are fortunate to have fabulous grounds including our very own forest with six level 3 Forest School teachers. Whilst we aim to ensure every child reaches their full potential academically, they are also taught that they can be successful in many different ways and places. Music, PE, Science, History & Geography are particular strengths. The children discover that being successful can mean anything from being a good friend to being a fantastic musician, sports person or artist, the list is endless! The children are also taught that it is good to make mistakes because that is how you learn and persistence is key! “Strive to succeed in the presence of God!” is our motto and one that fits well with our ethos. The parents of our children are very supportive of the school and this is valued as an essential ingredient for making our school as successful as it is.
If you would like to apply for a place in our school, please visit our “Admissions” page for more information about the application process.
