On Thursday Years 5 and 6 performed music compositions that they had been working on in class. Year 5’s work was based on “Mars” from the Planet Suite by Gustav Holst. They had also listened to “Clair de Lune” by Debussy and one group chose to show their work on that piece. Year 6 have been studying “In the Hall of the Mountain King” by Edvard Greig and had composed their own versions. It was lovely to hear their pieces and see how well they worked together in small groups.
The School Choir gave a marvellous performance at the above event. Mrs Phillips was so proud of them! Please see the lovely photos attached taken on the night. Well done to all of you.
On Wednesday, a large number of children from Year 5 performed on a variety of instruments for the entertainment of their parents and the whole school. It was wonderful to see how confidently they played.

The choir performed at the O2 together with 8,000 other children. They sung some of the 33 songs they had learnt at assembly on Thursday 1st February and really wowed everyone with the huge amount of words they had learnt. The singing was as fabulous as ever and we all really enjoyed their performance. We hope the parents enjoyed the concert too.

They then helped another 24 children to learn to be Song leaders here in school. Finally, we took the games out into the playgrounds, and hope to run sessions once a week. Our favourite games are “Jump Jim Joe”, “Bungalow”, “John Kanakanaka”, “Here Comes Sally” and “Tanczymy Labada”.
