4G’s assembly on Thursday was a magical affair on the importance of friendship. We hope the 4G parents were just as spellbound as we were!!!
Thank you to Fr. Shaun who joined us to celebrate Mass and lead the procession for Corpus Christi. The Friends very kindly bought a cross for each of the Year 3 & 4 children who recently made their First Holy Communion. Fr. Shaun blessed them and presented them after Mass. Many thanks to the Parish of St Monica’s for treating the children and staff to ice-lollies and ice-cream.
Our instrumentalists from Years 5 & 6 played to the whole school and their parents. They gave a beautiful performance and amazed us all with their wonderful talents!
6G took over the TV channels and showed us all they have learnt this year. We had parents vs children Mastermind, Match of the Day and it was very interesting to view some of the Apps they have created for Smartphones. Well done 6G, we hope you enjoyed your last ever class assembly!!!
10 year 5 children will represent Enfield in a Mile Fun Run up The Mall, round St. James’s Park and finish at Buckingham Palace on Sunday May 28th. Each child will be given a free T shirt, medal and goodie bag on the day. The event is hosted by Vitality Westminster Mile and organised by London Marathon.
On Thursday, 1G’s assembly was all about plants and India. They wowed us with all the facts they have learnt, ask them to tell you some. We hope the 1G parents were suitably impressed!
1Y would like to thank everyone who came to their assembly all about India. They had so much fun singing and dancing and educating you on all things Indian!! The stage looked very colourful with their beautiful costumes!
70 St. Monica’s children and their families were given the opportunity to attend the England Basketball Play-offs at the O2 arena on Sunday 14th May. The families really enjoyed their day and hopefully we have inspired some of our pupils to start playing basketball.
On Thursday, 2G told us the story of the Virgin Mary’s parents and how their daughter grew up to be such a special lady. They also acted out three of her apparitions when she delivered an important message to all of us. They went on to thank their parents who, like Mary, look after us and care for us.
Luckily it stayed dry for our May Procession. It was lovely to see many parents there. A big thank you to the choir and orchestra who sang and played beautifully.
Thank you to all the parents who brought in a bedding plant for our May Procession. They will be planted around the school.
24 children from Years 2- 5 represented the school at the Millfield Theatre for the Enfield Dance Festival on 3 consecutive evenings. We were asked to close the show each night which was a huge honour. A massive “Congratulations” to all of them for their brilliant performances and particular thanks to Karen Borley for her choreography talent and everyone who helped with crowd control!
Class 6Y took us to the jungle with an “I’m a class 6Y member, get me out of here” special! They showed us how much they have learned as a team in their seven years at St Monica’s and we look forward to seeing more of their talents this last term. We hope the families from Class 6Y enjoyed it.
Thank you to Fr. Shaun who celebrated Mass with us. He also blessed our new extension and the crosses that will hang in the new rooms. As always, the children were well behaved and reverent during the service. The music and singing was very enjoyable.
Over the last 6 weeks, year 6 and year 4 have been very fortunate to have worked with a qualified cricket coach from Winchmore Hill Cricket Club. They have learned many new skills over the weeks. 15 children enjoyed it so much that they have now enrolled with Winchmore to play cricket at the weekend.
