3G’s Valentine's assembly took us back to Ancient Rome to discover the real reason we celebrate Valentine’s Day.
What a wonderful concert, thank you to all the musicians and soloists who worked so hard. Well done to all of you!
Year 3's history topic this term is Stone Age to Iron Age. In September, they travelled all the way back to the Stone Age!
3Y took us back nearly 2,000 years to the time of the Romans. It was a fact-filled fun assembly and all of the children were amazing. Well done 3Y and we hope all your parents enjoyed it!
Year 3 have been having a great time down in our forest. They have made stone age shelters, mini habitats for fictional animals, created clay tree faces and had a super time playing in the snow! All the other Year groups have also been making excellent use of the forest this year.
3G proudly presented an assembly about self-belief and inspired us all to remember it is ‘good to be me’! It was a lovely message. We hope the 3G parents enjoyed it.
Thank you to Fr. Shaun who joined us to celebrate Mass and lead the procession for Corpus Christi. The Friends very kindly bought a cross for each of the Year 3 & 4 children who recently made their First Holy Communion. Fr. Shaun blessed them and presented them after Mass. Many thanks to the Parish of St Monica’s for treating the children and staff to ice-lollies and ice-cream.
3G taught us all about time, seasons and telling the time. There were some great dances, singing and a few funny moments along the way! Remember this Sunday ‘Tick, tock, the winter has stopped! So the clocks go forward if you like it or not!’
Singing Playgrounds has come to St Monica’s. Thirty children from KS2 attended training at Keys Meadow Primary on 27th February. They then helped another 24 children to learn to be Song leaders here in school. Finally, we took the games out into the playgrounds, and hope to run sessions once a week. Our favourite games are “Jump Jim Joe”, “Bungalow”, “John Kanakanaka”, “Here Comes Sally” and “Tanczymy Labada”.
A big “Well Done” to all the pupils from Infants and Year 3 who took part in a ‘A Star is Born’. We are a very lucky school to have so much talent! Many thanks to all the staff who helped to organise this event. Nearly £740 was raised in ticket sales which will be put towards buying resources for the children.
3Y educated us on the human body and gave us lots of interesting facts about our bones and organs. It was a fantastic performance.
Well done to Years 3 and 6 for a lovely Christmas Concert. We hope the parents enjoyed it, and thank you for your generosity in the retiring collection. These photos are of their dress rehearsal to the school.
Year 3 had a wonderful time at Westminster Cathedral’s Advent Service. They were delighted to see a real-life donkey & some sheep. The donkey even left a Christmas present on the altar!!! Well done and thank you to Emilia Talaga who represented St Monica’s by reading a bidding prayer. Thank you also for your generous donations. £206 was raised for the Catholic Children’s Society.
On Thursday, 3G took us on a journey to ‘Hundred Acre Wood’ to celebrate the 90th birthday of Winnie the Pooh. We met all of the characters - Are you more of an energetic Tigger? Or a deep-thinker like, Eeyore?
